A flavorful braided snack combining prosciutto and string cheese for easy entertaining and pizza accents.

# What You Need:

→ Dairy & Cured Meats

01 - 8 sticks string cheese (mozzarella, part-skim preferred, approximately 1 oz each)
02 - 8 slices thinly sliced prosciutto

# Steps:

01 - Lay one slice of prosciutto flat on a clean work surface.
02 - Place a string cheese stick at one end of the prosciutto slice and roll tightly to encase the cheese. Repeat with all sticks.
03 - Take two prosciutto-wrapped sticks and gently braid them together from one end, twisting carefully to prevent tearing. Repeat for each pair.
04 - For a more substantial braid, intertwine three wrapped sticks together.
05 - Arrange the braided ropes around the edge of pizzas or flatbreads before baking, or present as a standalone appetizer accompanied by dipping sauces such as marinara, pesto, or honey mustard.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • It's absurdly easy to make with just two ingredients and your hands.
  • They disappear faster than you'd expect, whether on a pizza or as a solo snack.
  • Everyone assumes you spent way more time and effort than you actually did.
02 -
  • Don't squeeze too hard while braiding or you'll push the cheese out of the prosciutto wrapper—gentle hands make the best knots.
  • If the cheese starts to poke through, that's okay; it means you know exactly when to stop braiding and move to the next pair.
03 -
  • If your prosciutto keeps tearing, it was probably sliced too thick—ask for it thinner next time, or work even more gently.
  • The secret to impressive braids is patience; rushing makes them fall apart, but taking your time makes them look professionally done.
